RESOLUTION ON THE PAN AFRICA TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK


The Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the OAU meeting in its Twelfth Ordinary Session from 28 July to 1st August 1975 in Kampala, Uganda,


Having considered the Report of the Co-ordinating Committee for the Implementation of the Pan African Telecommunications Network,


Aware of the vital role Telecommunications plays in the economic, social and political development of Africa and hence the fulfillment of the principle and objective of the Charter of the OAU,


Gratified at the work of the coordinating Committee and the progress made toward the implementation of the Pan African Telecommunications Network,


  1. NOTES with satisfaction the progress report submitted by the Coordinating Committee through a Council of Ministers;


  1. EXPRESSES its appreciation to the Administrative Secretary-General of the OAU, the Executive Secretary of the ECA, the President of ADB and the Secretary General of ITU for their effort toward the financing of the entire Network and ensure the technical and operational efficacy of the Network;


  1. CALLS upon the Coordinating Committee to continue its efforts in accordance with the recommendations contained in the report;


  1. URGES all member states of the OAU to assist and cooperate with the Coordinating Committee to accelerate the realization of the Pan African Telecommunications Network;


  1. CALLS upon the Administrative Secretary-General to submit periodic reports to the Council of Ministers of the OAU on the work of the Coordinating Committee and the implementation of the Pan African Telecommunications Network,
