Resolution Relating to the Attack Perpetrated by Rhodesia Against the People’s Republic of Angola

RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE ATTACK PERPETRATED BY RHODESIA AGAINST THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF ANGOLA


The Council of Minister of the Organization of African Unity, meeting in its Thirty- Second Ordinary Session in Nairobi, Republic of Kenya, from 23 February to 4 March, 1979,


Having heard the statement made by the head of the delegation of the People’s Republic of Angola on the recent attacks perpetrated against his country,


Considering the aggression perpetrated against the Republic of Zambia,



Further recalling resolutions CM/Res. 577 (XXIX) and CM/Res. 637 (XXXI) relating to the assistance given to the Front Line States which are victims of the aggression of the racist regimes of Southern Africa,


DECIDES:



  1. to strongly condemn the aggressive perpetrated against the Front Line States by the racist regimes of Southern Africa and to bring them to the knowledge of United Nations Secretary-General and the British Prime Minister in his capacity as the head of the Government of Administering power of Rhodesia;


  1. to address a message to Dr. Agostino Neto, president of the People’s Republic of Angola expressing the support and solidarity of the Council to the people and government of Angola;


  1. to send to Angola and Zambia a delegation with a message of the Council expressing the indefatigable support of the OAU Member States to the governments and peoples of the People’s Republic of Angola and the Republic of Angola and the Republic of Zambia;

  1. to instruct the Committee of Ten to assess the nature and importance of the material support to be given to the Front Line States which are victims of this aggression;




  1. to instruct the African Group at the United Nations to submit to the Secretary Council, for consideration, the question of aggression perpetrated by the Rhodesian regime, which constitutes a serious threat to peace and security in Africa and the world.
