RESOLUTION ON THE RENEGOTIATION OF EEC/ACP CONVENTION



The Council of Minister of the Organization of African Unity, meeting in its Thirty- Second Ordinary Session in Nairobi, Republic of Kenya, from 23 February to 4 March, 1979,


Having examined the report of the Administrative Secretary General on the Renegotiation of EEC/ACP Convention; Doc CM/960 (XXXII)


Convinced of the importance of the renegotiations currently taking place in Bruxelles between ACP and EEC countries;


  1. TAKES NOTE with appreciation the report of the Administrative Secretary General on the EEC/ACP negotiations.


  1. REAFFIRMS the Khartoum resolution No. 673 (XXXI) & urges the ACP negotiators to maintain the strong stand which they had so far adopted to ensure that the interests of the ACP countries were not sacrificed in compromises.


  1. URGES all ACP countries to maintain very strong unity in the renegotiations.



  1. REQUESTS the Administrative Secretary General to participate in the negotiations and to inform the ACP negotiations of the decisions adopted by the Council of Ministers on the matter.
