RESOLUTION ON THE CO-ORDINATION OF THE ACTIVITIES OF OAU SPECIALIZED AGENCIES


The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity meeting at its Thirty- eighth Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 22 – 28 February 1982,


Having considered the Report of the Secretary-General on the Co-ordination of the Activities of OAU Specialized Agencies contained in Document CM/1178 (XXXVIII),


Recalling resolution CM/Res. 771 (XXXIV) adopted at its Thirty-fourth Ordinary Session requesting the Secretary-General to co-ordinate and harmonize the activities of the OAU Specialized Agencies,


Bearing in mind the resolution on the Lagos Plan of Action adopted by the 2nd Extra-ordinary Assembly of Heads of State and Government which, inter alia, requests the Secretary-General to utilize the resources, among others of the OAU Specialized Agencies in implementing the Plan:


  1. TAKES NOTE of the decision of the 1st Meeting between the OAU Secretary- General and the Heads of OAU Specialized Agencies to establish a forum for consultation and for co-ordinating the activities of their agencies;


  1. APPROVES the establishment of the Administrative Co-ordinating Committee (ACC) of the OAU as a permanent machinery for the co- ordination and harmonization of the activities of the OAU and its Specialized Agencies;

  1. FUTHER APPROVES the composition of the Administrative Co-ordinating Committee (ACC) will be the Secretary-General of the OAU and the Head of each OAU Specialized Agency.
