Resolution Relating to Co-Operating Between the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and the Council for the Development of Economic and Social Research in Africa ( CODESRIA)

RESOLUTION RELATING TO CO-OPERATION BETWEEN THE ORGANIZATION OF AFRICAN UNITY (OAU) AND THE COUNCIL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL RESEARCH IN AFRICA (CODESRIA)


The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity meeting in its Forty- first Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 25 February to 4 March 1985,


Recalling the spirit of the Lagos Plan of Action adopted by the Second Extraordinary Assembly of Heads of State and Government held in Lagos, Nigeria on 28 and 29 April 1980, calling for an individual and collective self-reliant and self- sustaining development in Africa,


Considering the Resolution on the Lagos Plan of Action which, among other things, requests the Secretary-General of the OAU to take all the measures necessary to facilitate the implementation of the Lagos Plan of Action by enlisting the support of the Specialized Agencies of the OAU with the financial and technical assistance of the Specialized Agencies of the ECA and appropriate national and international bodies;


Determined to promote the use of African expertise for the attainment of the objectives of the Lagos Plan of Action and the Final Act of Lagos:


  1. TAKES NOTE of document No. CM/1286 (1286 (XLI) presented by the General Secretariat relating to the Draft Co-operation Agreement between the OAU and CODESRIA;


  1. AUTHORISES the Secretary-General of the OAU, working in consultation with the Executive Secretary of CODESRIA, to take the steps required to conclude a Co-operation Agreement between the Organization of African

Unity and the Council for the Development of Economic and Social Research in Africa.
