RESOLUTION ON AFRICAN PHYTOSANITARY RESEARCH AND TRAINING CENTRE
The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity meeting in its Forty- first Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 25 February to 4 March 1985,
Realizing that the OAU has a technical Bureau called the Inter-African Phytosanitary Council (IAPSC) in Yaounde, Cameroon which is responsibility for phytosanitary activities,
Considering the extreme importance of control and eradication of pests from the agricultural sector in all Member States,
Conscious of the need to protect stored food from destruction by pests and thus ensure food security:
TAKES NOTE of the proposed establishment of the African Phytosantitary Research and Training Centre (APSTRC);
AGREES in principle to the establishment of the above Centre subject to the submission by the Secretariat of relevant feasibility study, financial implications and taking into account the remarks made by Member States.
