DECISION OF THE 12™ SESSION OF THE STANDING
COMMISSION FOR AFRO-ARAB COOPERATION

Council:

  1. TAKES NOTE of the report and the final communique;

  2. ENDORSES the recommendations of the Commission as contained in the report and final communique;

  3. EXPRESSES ITS GRATITUDE to the government and people of Algeria for the efforts deployed and the excellent facilities provided for the holding of the 12th Ordinary Session of the Standing Commission;

  4. COMMENDS Member States, the Secretary General of the OAU and the Secretary General of the League of Arab States for the efforts deployed for the holding of the 12th Ordinary Session of the Standing Commission;

  5. REQUESTS the Secretary General to initiate the necessary consultations with the Secretary General of the League of Arab States and the other parties concerned for the implementation of the recommendations adopted at this 12th Session including the proposals made by Sudan, Egypt and Libya on the reactivation of Afro-Arab Cooperation and submit a report to the Seventy-fifth session of Council;

  6. ALSO REQUESTS the Secretary General to hold the necessary consultations with Member States for the holding of the 13th Ordinary Session of the Commission to be hosted by the OAU or the African Union to be held before the end of 2001.
