DECISION ON THE REFORM OF THE UNITED
NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL

The Assembly:
TAKES NOTE of the Report of the Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government on the Reform of the United Nations (UN) Security Council;
REAFFIRMS the Ezulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration on the Reform of the United Nations Security Council adopted in Sirte in July 2005;
REQUESTS the Commission to facilitate the activities of the African Permanent Representatives of the Committee of Ten to the United Nations to enable them actively engage in one voice in the inter-governmental negotiations and to coordinate with other groups on the basis of the Ezulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration;
ALSO REQUESTS the African Permanent Representatives to the United Nations of the Committee of Ten to liaise regularly with their respective counter parts to the African Union as well as the other African Permanent Representatives to the UN on the ongoing inter-governmental negotiations taking place in New York;
REITERATES that the Committee of Ten remains seized of this matter until Africa achieves its objectives on the reform of the UN Security Council;
FINALLY REQUESTS the Committee of Ten to present a progress report to the next Ordinary Session of the Assembly in July 2009.
