DECISION ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE ECONOMIC, SOCIAL
AND CULTURAL COUNCIL OF THE AFRICAN UNION
(ECOSOCC)

The Executive Council,
1. TAKES NOTE of the Report on the Activities of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) and the recommendations contained therein;
2. REITERATES its requests to ECOSOCC, in close consultation with the Commission, other AU Organs and Member States to pursue actively the setting up of a harmonized mechanism and clear criteria for the granting of AU consultative and observer status to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Africa in the implementation of Decision EX.CL/890 (XXVII) on the Report of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council of the African Union (ECOSOCC) adopted by the 27th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council held in Johannesburg, South Africa in June 2015;
3. REQUESTS ECOSOCC to:
i) Remain fully engaged and collaborate with CSOs of Member States;
ii) Continue popularizing Agenda 2063 and its First Ten Year Implementation Plan;
iii) Speed up the process of fully constituting its General Assembly so that every Member State is represented.
4. REQUESTS the Commission in collaboration with Member States to provide effective political and material support to assist ECOSOCC deliver on its mandate;
5. REQUESTS ECOSOCC to report on the implementation of this decision at the ordinary session of the Executive Council scheduled for January 2017.
