DECISION ON THE AFRICAN UNION ENDORSEMENT OF CANDIDATURE
OF MINISTER MOUSHIRA KHATTAB TO THE POST OF DIRECTOR
GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS EDUCATIONAL, SCIENTIFIC
AND CULTURAL ORGANIZATION (UNESCO)
The Executive Council,
1. RECALLS its decision EX.CL/Dec.938(XXIX) adopted in June 2016 in Kigali, Rwanda, which endorsed the candidature of H.E. Moushira Khattab of the Arab Republic of Egypt for the post of Director General of UNESCO;
2. EXPRESSES its appreciation to all Member States for the support provided thus far to H.E. Moushira Khattab, the sole African candidate for the above-mentioned post;
3. REQUESTS the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, the African Group in UNESCO, the African Groups and the Deans of the African Diplomatic Corps in the different capitals to take the necessary collective actions to support and promote the aforementioned candidature.
