The constitutional appointments authority (CAA) of Seychelles is inviting applications for the position of Chief Justice. In the official notice of vacancy, the CAA explains that the Chief Justice sits full-time as a judge of both the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court. The CJ, as a judge of the Supreme court is also an ex-officio member of the Court of Appeal.

Among other responsibilities the CJ oversees the administration of the judiciary at all levels, drafts rules of court relating to matters of practice and procedure. She or he has a further responsibility for overseeing the discipline of legal practitioners and must, in addition, ‘maintain relationships with national and international partners’.

The CAA will be looking for someone who, in its opinion, has shown 'outstanding distinction' in the practice of law, and who can 'effectively, competently and impartially discharge the functions of the office of Judge under the Constitution'.
