Resolution on the "Italian Ship of Solidarity"


CM/Res.822 (XXXV) RESOLUTION ON THE “ITALIAN SHIP OF SOLIDARITY”

The Council of Ministers of the Organization of Africa Unity meeting in its Thirty- fifth Ordinary Session in Freetown, Sierra Leone, from 18 to 28 June, 1980,


Having noted with appreciation the donation of 2,800 tons of materials by the National Committee of Italy for the support of African National Liberation Movements,


Having further noted the value and importance of the materials donated;



Being aware that the Italian Ship of Solidarity, “AMANDA”, left the Port of Genoa on the 19th of May, 1980 and would shortly be discharging her cargo in Luanda, Maputo and Dar-es-Salaam respectively:


  1. EXPRESSES great appreciation to the people of Italy for this generous gesture of solidarity;

  2. PAYS SPECIAL TRIBUTE to the National Committee of Solidarity of Italy for their commitment to the liberation struggle in Africa.
