DECISION ON THE AFRICAN CENTRE FOR APPLIED RESEARCH AND TRAINING IN SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT


The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity, meeting in its Thirty-sixth Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 23 February to 1 March, 1981,


Having considered the Secretary-General’s report contained in document CM/1095

(XXXVI) relating to the African Centre for Applied Research and Training in Social Development:


  1. DECIDES that the OAU Secretary-General should take all the necessary steps to ensure, in collaboration with the ECA, ASWEA and the Host Government, that the African Centre for Applied Research and Training in Social Development gets off the ground;


  1. AUTHORIZES a contribution of US$100,00.00 to be taken out of the 1981/82 OAU Budget to be Centre;


  1. CALLS UPON the Member States of the OAU who have not yet done so to sign the Agreement establishing the Centre;


  1. EXPRESSES its deep gratitude to the Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya for the important material assistance it has given to the Centre thus enabling it to exist;


  1. REQUESTS the host country to continue giving assistance to the Centre for it to attain its objectives.
