RESOLUTION ON OAU CONFERENCE ORGANIZATION DURING THE FINANCIAL YEAR 1991/1992

The Council of Ministers of the Organization of African Unity, meeting in its Fifty-third Ordinary Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 25 February to 1 March 1991,

Aware of the Resolution of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government AHG/Res.195 (XXVI) establishing the OAU Committee on Conference and the mandate given to the Committee, including determining the organization of all OAU Meetings,

Having considered the Report of the First Meeting of the OAU Committee on Conferences held in Addis Ababa, from 13 to 21 November 1990, on the Management of OAU Conferences during the 1991/1992 Financial Year, Document CM/1634 (LIII),

Having considered the recommendations contained in the Report of the Committee on Conferences, including the proposed Terms of Reference and the OAU Calendar of Meetings for the Year 1991/1992,

Aware of the difficult economic and financial condition in all Member States and of the need to make an effective use of the OAU limited resources,

Desirous of ensuring the holding of only useful and well planned OAU Meetings,

Concerned about the ever-increasing and the unnecessary proliferation of OAU sponsored meetings on different levels and in different venues,

Considering the necessity to ensure the rationalization of the resources of the Organization:

1. ADOPTS the Report of the First Session of the Committee on Conferences contained in Document CM/1634 (LIII);

2. APPROVES the Terms of Reference of the Committee on Conferences as contained in Document CM/1634 (LIII) Annex I;

3. ENDORSES the OAU Calendar of Meetings as recommended by the Committee on Conferences – Document CM/1634 (LIII) Annex II;

4. APPROVES all recommendations of the Committee on Conference relating to the organization of OAU Ministerial Meetings as contained in Document CM/1634 (LIII);
