Resolution for the awareness building of activities of the APRM Secretariat, the establishment of a working platform for PAP and the APRM Secretariat and the taking into account of the specific characteristics of each country in their evaluation

The PanAfrican Parliament,REITERATING its satisfaction with its collaboration with the APRM Secretariat;CONSIDERING previous Recommendation PAP-RE 002/4 and Resolution PAP-RES 001/05 of the 3rd PAP Ordinary Session;NOTING the increase in the number of States acceding to the APRM;RECALLING the role of PAP in supervising activities of the APRM Secretariat as an organ of the African Union;CONSIDERING the APRM presentation on the evaluation of Ghana, Rwanda and Kenya on 14 November 2006;
1. URGES the APRM Secretariat to promote greater awareness of its activities in African Union Member Countries for them to accede to the review process;
2.URGES the APRM Secretariat to strengthen its working relationship with the Bureaux of PAP Committees, as well as with regional and national Parliaments;
3. URGES the APRM Secretariat to be sensitive to the specific characteristics of all countries under review when evaluation modalities are being planned;
4.URGES the APRM Secretariat to be inclusive in its consultative review processes and to specifically seek the involvement of Civil Society in general and women and youth in particular in their work.
5.URGES that completed APRM country reports be made public.
